Membership in the American Foundry Society
The American Foundry Society (AFS) was founded in 1896 to provide and promote knowledge and services that strengthen the metalcasting industry for the ultimate benefit of its customers and society.
Since then the AFS has grown into an international organization with over 10,000 members in 47 countries and today there are 52 local chapters and 33 student chapters affiliated with the AFS in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Membership in the AFS is open to anyone interested to support and promote the foundry industry and includes membership in the chapter closest to your residence. By joining the AFS you automatically become eligible for all the benefits and advantages our Society has to offer including educational opportunities and the fellowship and networking offered by your local chapter.
There are seven classes of membership to choose from:
Junior (Student) and
AFS offers assistance to member companies and individuals to effectively and efficiently manage all production operations, to profitably market their products and services, and to equitably manage their employees.
AFS also promotes the interests of the foundry industry before the legislative and executive branches of the federal government.
With the direction of its volunteer committee structure, the professional staff of AFS provides support in the areas of technology, management and education to further activities that will enhance the economic progress of the metalcasting industry.
