organized to provide a forum to students
interested in the science of Metalcasting.
Being part of the Department of Materials
Science and Engineering the Metalcasting
program includes theoretical courses as well
as practical hands-on experience in the
in-house Casting Laboratory of the Department.

Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF) is an
educational program at the college level. It
includes a community college, four-year
technology schools as well as traditional
engineering colleges and graduate schools. Employment programs

The FEF is financed through annual
contributions with all revenue received from
annual contributors going into the FEF's general
fund and is used to support the regular
scholarship program as well as all other FEF
activities. In addition to this revenue, the FEF
receives funds for special purposes - named
scholarships, AFS Chapter scholarships, memorial
contributions and year-end contributions. |

The Foundry
Industry Recycling Starts Today Project
(“FIRST”) is a metalcasting industry
consortium focused on market development of
sustainable options for beneficial re-use of
foundry industry byproducts – primarily spent
sands, slags and dusts. FIRST was
established in 1998 by the state metalcasting
associations in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois,
Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in
recognition of the fact that individual
foundries and states were encountering the
same engineering, educational and economic
barriers to market entry. The site

technical information on beneficial reuse
