is the outgrowth of a significant government and industry-led effort to

also working to achieve a near zero effect on the environment. Technikon is a new private organization established to
carry on these efforts and other foundry program innovations.The
CERP foundry produces castings using environmentally sound
technologies, processes, and new materials. The resulting information

The FEF is financed through annual contributions
with all revenue received from annual contributors going into the FEF's

Foundry Industry Recycling Starts Today Project (“FIRST”) is a
metalcasting industry consortium focused on market development of
sustainable options for beneficial re-use of foundry industry
byproducts –
primarily spent sands, slags and dusts. FIRST
was established in 1998 by the state metalcasting associations in
Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in
recognition of the fact that individual foundries and states were
encountering the same engineering, educational and economic barriers to
